Prerequisite: Algebra II with a grade of C (75) or better. A grade of B (85) or better is recommended.

A working knowledge of mathematics is essential.

In order to earn the 3 points Honors credit, you must complete a

Science Fair Project or a Research Paper, and do sowithin the guidelines set by the instructor.

In order to maintain an environment in which all students have the opportunity to learn, and to allow this class to proceed in a timely and consistent manner, certain behaviors are expected of you. These include:

** Always treat everyone as you would wish to be treated.

** Honesty is a must. Cheating will result in an immediate grade of zero.

** Food or drink will not be allowed. This includes gum. I will make an exception for water in a closeable plastic bottle.

** Cell phones, MP3 players, etc. are not to be in your possession during the school day (County-wide policy; read your handbook). If I see one, even in an open backpack or purse, I will take it up immediately.

** Be prepared every day when you come to class. Bring notebook, textbook, pen or pencil, and calculator. I do not loan any of these items, and you will not be allowed to share during a test or quiz.

** Be in your assigned seat when the bell begins to ring.

** Put admit slips on my desk before the bell rings. If you do not have one, whether because you forgot to get it or you left it in another room, you must go get it and you will receive a demerit for being tardy to class.

** Make-up work: (If you don’t miss class, you won’t have to worry about these)

-- It is your responsibility to complete make-up work on time. In this class, you have 5 school days to make up any tests missed for an excused absence. Please note: this is longer than school policy calls for; therefore, under no circumstances will I make exceptions to this.

-- Daily assignments and homework are due the day you return to class.

-- For an unexcused absence, work may be made up for ½ credit. The same 5-day time limit applies.

-- I do not come to school early nor do I stay late for students to make up work. You will not be allowed to make up a test during class time. Tests may be made up during after-school testing, or if you have a study hall or are a student aide. If this conflicts with sports or work, tough. Tell your coach or your boss that you are paying the consequence for being absent, and will be a little late.

-- Daily quizzes and labs cannot be made up. Missed quizzes will result in a grade of zero (your lowest quiz grade will be dropped); your lab grade will be the grade which your lab partner receives. Choose your lab partner wisely.

** There is a 5 point per day “late fee” for work turned in late.

** Snow Day (etc.) Policy: When we return to school, we will pick up where we left off. There will be no “catch-up” or review time.

In this class, the responsibility is yours to behave like the young adults that you are, to keep up with homework and any work missed, and to be prepared when you come to class.

By following these rules, we can all expect to have an enjoyable, educational class.
